Burnout isn't about doing too much. It's doing what's not true for you for too long. And so alignment feels different, right? There's still effort, but there's clarity of direction and growth. And which is why I'm saying we typically don't not know what to do. It's we have to remove the distortions in our map that are on the highway and get the boulder out of the way so we can keep moving with who we are.
Dawn, welcome to the Total Entrepreneur Mind Body Spirit Podcast. So great to have you here.
Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate being here.
Good to see you. The first question I have is I wanted to ask you what it means to be the CEO of your soul. I talk a lot about being the CEO of your health, but this is a different twist on it.
It is. And, you know, I mean, if I just kind of take my own journey, I've started out basically, and if I kind of just start with the basics of who I am, I've always been fascinated with the parts more than the whole, right? And it started in childhood. I would go in my grandma's garage and grab, you know, the hammer and steal it even though I wasn't allowed to have it. And I would want to crack the rocks open and the crystals inside were prettier than the rock, right? And then I advanced into college and then I was pre-med, even though I'm glad I did not pass those classes because I would have been a terrible doctor because I break all the rules, which is a good thing, right? But I was fascinated with, again, The parts that made more of the whole, and and so then you fast forward into what everybody experiences, especially entrepreneurs, but business owners and people and in their body, mind, soul. So I mean, I got the degree in physiology and kinesiology. I'm kind of a science nerd, so thus the body, mind, soul. But I was very spiritually driven, drawn to you know the back in the day when I was kind of. The anomaly, right? Astrology, you're weirdo, right? Like, but your soul is a blueprint map, and I can always see it. Like, but those are the parts of this soul, right? And it so all started layering through my life. But then I ended up like most people, and life just hit, right? Like life starts to get hard, and you're like, why is this not working? Why am I working so hard? And then you know something. And so usually there's a turning point for all of us in body mind. Well, as you can break down the parts, right? Body, mind, spirit. Body, mind, soul. And I realized you can work on the body all you want, but if the mind isn't clear, you're not going to get anywhere. And so thus I left that health and wellness and fitness and nutrition world and started working through that psychology. And then I got into, you know, all my spiritual gifts and, and realized, well, if it's not true for you, the mind can work out anything it wants and it's still not going to fix that body, right? So I started seeing the layering of those parts becoming the whole of a And so for me personally, you know, I had this moment in my life where I heard in the other room— it was a personal, like, just stab in the heart— I heard my daughter say to her dad, how come Mommy never laughs? Right? So I think we all have a moment where it's health, wealth, or love, or somewhere in between, and it wakes you up. And I was like, you know what, I gotta fix me, not the marriage, not the kids, not the family. And this White picket fence life that we've told: have the perfect body, write all the books, have all these businesses, be the best mom. We I think we're all under this structure delivery society of like if you do all these external things, the whole will be great, but they're not you. And so I caught myself in that personal snowball and kind of that tsunami of like. What? Why is my life not peaceful and full? And so that was that moment that woke me up and said, you know, I got to stop fixing anybody else. I don't need to fix a marriage. I got to fix me. So of course my marriage failed. You know, I'm struggling as the weight of a mom, and my health was struggling. And so you kind of brought up the CEO of the body. Like I had tried to fix the body, and it wasn't working. Then I was fixing the mind, and then that tapped me into. that last aspect of my life, right? Of, okay, why don't you use what you use in coaching and healing? And I used to do a lot of corporate coaching and training and executives and stuff. And so I was like, this is taking too much time to do just basic structural training, right? Like, let me just look at their chart and I'll know exactly where their weak spots are, override them, show them where they are so we can take the unconscious, make it conscious. Here's their soul. And now they're not afraid of themselves. They're actually like, oh, that's all I got to do. And it was, it was so much faster than trying to dive into the psychology, even though it is your own psychology. So that's what created basically my Lighthouse Mastery protocol and we'll call it template framework. And thus there's where people are like, you know, so I kind of just got termed, right, the soul CEO activator, because I'm not really doing anything other than showing you your soul's map on paper. and then activating your power. So that's kind of where, where it started, but I guess the bigger piece, if you really, you know, kind of dive into it, is that when someone needs to become the CEO of your soul, I'm not sure how you term it, and I would love to hear this, but it's the Chief Energy Officer, right? Your soul should be the chief of the energy that your soul's leading from, because most people, have you noticed, lead from the outside and then address strategy, as opposed to The inside and out.
Very external-focused, right? Yeah. And, and I've actually seen you talk about this or seen interviews where you talk about some of the most successful people, you know, even though on paper they look like they're wild successes and a lot of people would literally kill for that life, yet they don't feel it themselves. Right. So, this is, that's a, so I want to talk about that, but I also want to get to the, so, so you said you're a science nerd. How do you go from being a science nerd to getting deep into soul work and astrology? Because up until recently, those things had fairly divergent paths, right? And they didn't cross. Although I do believe now science and spirituality are coming together again because we can measure things better. But talk about your path going from science nerd to actually leaning into those things that historically, or at least in recent history, didn't really converge.
So I recently had this interview, um, that he was really like pushing on me hard. He's like, where'd this astrology come in? And, and I, I kind of shared a little bit earlier, I never really— I held back on the one thing that was— and I can't even explain to you. I think we're all born with gifts. Some people are extremely gifted with numbers and they're creative, and some people are gifted with growing a, you know, garden, and I'm not, right? And, and I was just gifted at seeing an astrology birth chart that actually I don't look at astrology the same way most people do. And the reason I say that is because there's some brilliant, incredible astrologers out there, but it's based off of math and, and degrees and equations of energy. And so for me, I looked at it from more of a karmic perspective, right? You're— it's a map of you. And so just imagine that you're Um, you're a soul, and what— whoever you believe in— God, universe, source, consciousness, whatever it is— we'll just call God for this purpose. And you and God— and John's like, I'm gonna go down and help humanity, God. And you're like, got this, I can do this, I got these gifts, I'm really talented. And God's like, okay, but you know what, there's a couple, couple parts of your energetic frequency, it's a little bit fragmented. You got to work on that, master those topics of life. You're like, no, no, no, done with those, not doing those anymore. And like beep, you're born, and your soul passes through the galaxy, through the universe, through the planetary alignments that look a lot like, um, longitude latitude lines going on infinite. So you're just passing through energetic grids of frequency, and the planets and universe just match frequency alignments. So, you know, planets have different frequencies, so it's really that simple. And so you got this tattoo Of energy, of personality, soul contracts, challenges, superpowers that we all have, and and it's tattoos on your soul, and then you're born. Problem is we have amnesia, so we come in with this perfect blueprint, this perfect user's manual that I try to tell everybody, especially the very successful ones that come to me, and they're like financially off the grid, and they're still miserable, and I'm like, okay, let's look at this. soul map and see what you haven't mastered yet. And what's fascinating is we all avoid those, those discomforting topics because they're not comfortable for us, or they're, they're what we actually came to learn, but we avoid them. And so that's kind of how astrology came in for me. I held it back, but when I would go— CEOs would hire me and say, hey, can you work with— I've heard about you, can you work with my top 10 execs?
Sure.
And I'd say, but I'm going to look at their chart. We don't have to talk about it again, we don't have to look at it again, but I need to know fast what their blocks are so we're not dancing around and having— because typically it's not that you have a bad accountant or a bad sales manager or a bad, you know, CFO. You have someone who's dealing with health, wealth, or love challenges behind the scenes and they're not coming clean with it, right? Well, I can see it right away. We zero in. So most of the time they were like, How do you know this about me? And that's kind of how it exploded out because they're like, show me more, show me how you know this. I'm like, well, here, it's on paper. And so I look at it more of— I look at your personality of astrology and your blueprint as a user's manual. From— imagine we all have a car, right? And we have a user's manual. We never pull it out until the blue light or the red light's going off. We're like, get the manual out, how do we turn this off? Look in the user's manual. It tells us what to do. We turn it off and we're good to go. But we don't do that with ourselves. Yet we came in with this soul blueprint user's manual on how to deal with the challenges, the gifts, the superpowers, and everything in between.
Now, I was reading on your website, you have a quote from JP Morgan where he says, millionaires don't use astrology, billionaires do. So, so what, what is it about billionaires that, that that know— what do they know that mere millionaires don't?
So think of the universe and planets and people, and, and it's kind of like looking at this. It's like, you know how you get along with some people so easy? It's like natural, it's like air breathing, you don't even have to try. And then some people, it's terrifying or it's work. You've got to really work to get engaged with them. Well, that's the same thing that happens. We all have planets, you know, so you're a sign and you have a planet that matches you. So the planets Sometimes get along and sometimes don't, but they're coming along less as planets and and and things as more so messages. So they're bringing us messages. I'm sure one of the big ones people talk about all the time is Mercury retrograde. Like oh no, it's Mercury retrograde. You know communication electronics are gonna break. Don't sign contracts. Like all these discussions, and I'm like no, it's actually giving you a message to slow down. To analyze, to clean up your work, to check yourself. So the messages, what they're saying is you're a billionaire because they're like, no, let's find the waves of patterns where we can ride high frequency and take on better ways to become abundant and override things that will get in our way. Oh, we got to slow down right now. Oh no, we've got to take a, a risk right now. So you can use it for transits as opposed to I think the bigger piece is if you know who your soul is, no one can break you. Because in Lighthouse Mastery, you're in the center of this lighthouse, you have 12 rooms around you. And the way I teach is there's 4 hotspots, shall I call them, 4 rooms that you've shut the door, you've padlocked it, and you don't want to go in because they're hot. And the moment you actually open the door and realize those flames aren't going to burn you and you learn that lesson, I call them your 4 Bs or your your BS, right? And so your blocks, your baggage, your emotional baggage, your bruises and your breakthroughs. And if we know those, which billionaires probably do, I know where I'm not gonna avoid growing this aspect of myself. So you're whole and you're powerful as opposed to only good at a couple things.
I still kind of get hung up on the idea that astrology is is astrology, right? And like, I, I'm in a university setting, I'm an academic, so that side of my brain tells me, is this real? We need more of this, right? Yet I feel a pull toward it because something about it seems right, right? A lot of it feels true, right? So talk about that a little bit, and how do you get people over that hump where it's astrology, it's a bunch of BS, um, maybe even talk through some of the science or the physics of the energy about it, because I think that's the biggest objection I hear from a lot of people. Even if we just bring up astrology on a superficial level, they just dismiss it out of hand and they're like, this is a crock. So I'd love to hear your perspective on that.
I love that you said that. Thank you. That's so good. And the reason I say that is because we have to get off of— there's a lot of programming psychologically of Astrology bad, religions astrology bad. When really, when you go back, we'll go into the science and the spiritual aspect of it. If you go back to Mesopotamia thousands and thousands of years ago, before, you know, Christ consciousness, before biblical, like all of this, they simply didn't have anything to look at. They looked up at the sky and looked at the patterns of energy and said, oh, you know, it's harvesting time. It's September. It's The Virgo's up in the sky. There's a constellation. We need to go pick our wheat now or whatever we're going to do. Oh, it's, you know, it's time for us to go to school and educate. And Sagittarius is in there. We need to learn. So there's— they were already tapping into these waves of information saying, oh, this is a good time of year to do this. Oh, it's going to start getting cold. Capricorn. We should find a way to, you know, save fuel, food, whatever. Okay. So you take us back to the energetic imprint. There it is. Thousands and thousands of years of just forgetting that we have the ability to tap into energy. Now bring it back to present day, and you're like, Dawn, like, why? How do we, how do we interpret this? Okay, let me ask you a question. How do you know there's a Wi-Fi signal that's going to work on your computer to have this call right now? Can you see it?
No, no, I need, I need an instrument or a computer to tell me, hey, we're picking up the signal.
Right, but can you see the signal? Do you know where the router is? Do you care where the router is?
No, absolutely not. I can't see it.
Yeah, you just know there's an invisible frequency there that you can tap into and it will provide you this information to be able to facilitate. So I ask people that all the time, like, well, how can you believe that? I'm like, how do you believe in a Wi-Fi signal? You just, you just know because That's how it works. So the same thing goes when you look at a blueprint of astrology. When you can get out all of the— if I told you, well, and you're like, well, I need to see the signal. I need to see where the signal is. I need to see how it gets around into my house and how it connects. But none of us care. And so I'm like, okay, if I can— does that make sense?
The difference with the Wi-Fi signal though is that you get the— even though you can't see it, you're getting the benefit of it like right in your face, right? It's tangible. It's real time. Like, oh, I can connect to the internet. I can literally see it. And I think I know where you're going with this. But yeah, so continue, because so how do we know that we're tapped into the energy when we can't easily see it like we can just going to a web browser and opening the internet?
So good. So this is where I took astrology and kind of took the old school mentality out of it and turned it into a piece of paper download and said, here's the, here's the framework. You're a lighthouse, and we're gonna go look at your chart, you're never gonna look at it again. I just want you to know where these categories are, and it's on paper. So I've taken what you can't see and said, oh, that's my blueprint of energy. Oh, it sits here in these 12 categories— in my self category, in my money category, in my communication, in my home, my, my security, my children, my self-expression, my health, my partnerships, my belief systems, my intimacy, my career, my public status, and my mind. And so if I can show you on paper from what you can't see, made it visual, it's your soul, and I put it on paper for you, you now have a Wi-Fi router saying, hey, here's your new GPS.
Hmm.
And you don't need to worry about— I mean, I showed you where I got it so you don't think I'm making it up, that there's no, you know, there's no phone or Wi-Fi. So I've showed you the 2 pieces, which we just took your Wi-Fi router and that's your chart, and we put it into a piece of paper that is your phone. And now we go, oh, Now I have a map and now I have a map on how to move forward and start acknowledging, oh man, John, I have these 4 hard lessons, they're like, like going to get my PhD, I don't want to get a PhD in this class, I like this class over here, I like the money class, I'm successful, I'm a business owner. I know but your relationships, that's what you really came, that's why you don't have money problems in this lifetime because you're here to deal with the relationship PhD, I mean maybe you need 2 PhDs because you're so terrible at it, right, so We're gonna work through it and we're gonna master that category. And yet less about, we need to see it on paper because people are human. Does that make sense?
Yeah, I know, for sure. And I think, you know, there, there is a, there, there is an energy, right? So like whatever, whatever time and place you were born, there's, there's an energy pattern, right? And it's just natural. We're, we're born into a heavenly body that's being you know, influenced and impacted by other bodies. So it seems very natural that there would be some sort of effect there just on our physical bodies, right? Because of the energy around us. But I think that's the hard part, right? Because you can't really see it. It's not that obvious. It's not right in your face. But I think, you know, anytime I talk to somebody who's read, you know, their chart, inevitably they're like, oh yeah, it kind of you kind of got me pretty well, you know.
I've taken it past the get me pretty well to the, I want to know where your karmic masterclasses are. That's all I care about. You're already good at teaching, right? That's probably not hard for you to be a teacher. You're probably just a natural teacher. So do I have to teach you how to be a teacher? No. But there's a couple areas in your life that probably need some training. Go to class. It's just that simple. So I take what you can't see and make it easy to see. And you're absolutely right, it is hard for people. What I want people to realize is what's hard for you is actually why you're here. Because people ask me all the time, what's my purpose, Dawn? And I'm like, to get your shit together. That's what your purpose is. Not about a job or a thing. It's to get this together so we become more whole. And I mean, a lot of people refer to it as Christ consciousness. You've mastered all of you and you're completely an unmoving lighthouse.
Yeah, I mean, my naive feeling is that we're here strictly to experience joy, and like getting our shit together to me means getting all that stuff out of the way so you can you can feel joy and and just do that. You know, so what would you think of that? It'd be interesting to hear your perspective.
Have you noticed though how many people aren't at peace? Yeah, no matter what they get, what they have. I watch people who even are pretty successful, and they'll get a win. I don't know, a sale or a contract, or I got this, and it's. it's literally almost like they speak almost down to it, like, yeah, but it's because inside we're not feeling at peace because it's not really the thing that's lacking that has been addressed. It's an external thing. So think of it like this, of body, mind, soul, right? We're body, you got the mind, then you got the soul. And they're more equated for people in their brains to associate with things Things are anything the body you can touch, a house, money, cars, whatever. The mind is your thoughts and the soul is truth, okay. And so we've been living on a planet that has been basically from starting at thing, I want a thing, what do I have to think and then is it true for me, which people are starting to realize, I got the thing, I got the money, I got the house, I got all the white picket fence and it's not, I'm still not truthfully at soul level, I'm not at peace. And what happened is, give it like this spiritual awakening, call it, I'm not a fan of all the spiritual words only because it gets people to get lazy within their soul, right? So we inverted.
Mm-hmm.
And the energy on the planet, call it energy, I know people struggle with, I can't see it. No, but you can feel it. So the energy inverted. So now instead of going to things first, we go into truth. And if you know your soul's truth and know who you are authentically, We choose, is this true for me? What thoughts need to align with that? And the things just fall into place.
Hmm.
They just are attracted to you because it's true for you, as opposed to hoping the thing will be true for you. It's a different frequency of inter— it just completely inverted in the way we're starting to align. And those are the 3 steps that I go through with every client. You're— do you understand your BS? your, your, we'll call it your blind spots, right? Your 4 blind spots that you avoid. Are you living authentically? And then step is step 2, like, are you truly being you? Is this true for you? Are you just saying it because everybody tells you you're gonna want it?
Mm-hmm.
And the 3rd step is choice. Is it a want or a need, right? Because most people are going from neediness and I need that so I'll feel better. And that's a place of lack and scarcity because if you think you need it means you don't have it. Now, if you're in a want mode, totally different game, right? I know who I am. I know this is true for me, and I, I want this, and this is how I will align myself so this feels full, fulfilling. Does that make sense?
Yeah, no, it does. And the thing about it is that it's, it's pretty simple, but it's not easy, right?
Like, yeah, it's so true. Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
So what, like, what's the— have you noticed a subconscious pattern that you just keep seeing over and over again in high achievers that, um, that maybe keeps them stuck or keeps them from fully experiencing joy?
Um, because they're constantly in this driven— clients, anybody, right? They're in a constant state of not yet.
Mm-hmm.
Right? Like, if you, you look at the word, my, my company name, I Deserve It Now, right? And so it— deserve, I think it gets kind of tripped up, like, oh, because it's not like, oh, I did all these things, I did a good life, so I deserve a good life. It's more about the Latin breakdown of de and serve, right? What to serve, right? And it's not about who you are serving, it's what are you serving yourself. So if you look at those drivers that you just described, they're in this whole, I'll deserve it when it's that not yet. I'll deserve it when I hit this goal. I'll deserve it when I fix this, when I prove this, when I help XYZ per— person, whoever, right? Places, persons, circumstances. And then that loop never ends because we're constantly in the, when I hit this experience, then I'm gonna feel full. And so because the issue isn't achievement, it's about receiving and holding.
Mm-hmm.
And high achievers are incredible at doing but uncomfortable with keeping and holding. And so the goal kind of— the goalpost is always moving to some external achievement. And so this movement isn't about— it's always about breaking the pattern, right?
It's—
you got to understand that we have pattern. We got to break that down because you don't earn your worthiness. John, right? You operate from it. And so people ask me all the time, like, why am I stuck? I go, because you don't feel worthiness in that category of those 12 I shared with you. You don't feel worthiness there. We can overachieve over here and do more, but when you do, you stop delaying your life. You stop making it a one-day thing. You begin serving yourself from confidence instead of questioning, if I do that, will I be full? if I do that, will I feel true? It's never anymore because you know who you are. And that's a hard place to be, right?
Yeah, no, that's such a good point. And it makes me think of the entrepreneurs that I work with. One of the biggest complaints or things they talk about is this idea of imposter syndrome, right? Like, who am I to be running this company? I'm not qualified. I shouldn't be here. I don't belong in the room. On and on. And You know, it just strikes me that if you, if you feel like you're an imposter, then guess what? You are one, right? So the moment you don't feel like an imposter, the moment you feel like you actually deserve that now, to be in that room right now, then you're no longer an imposter because nobody else is calling you an imposter. Nobody else is saying, hey, you don't belong here. It's all in your own head. So I think that kind of syncs up a little bit with your I Deserve It Now movement.
Like, this is so spot on because deserving isn't earned, it's remembered, right? And so nobody in that room cares about you. Nobody in that room thinks about you. They're thinking the same thing whoever this person is thinking. They're thinking the same thing. What if they find out?
Right. And that's the thing, like, once you realize that nobody's really thinking about you near as much as you think they are, and it's very liberating, right? No, nobody's that concerned about you. You know? Yeah. Yeah. So, so what do you see with people? Like, you know, why, why won't they just let themselves deserve it? Like, because it seems like once they get to that place where like, hell yeah, I do deserve this. Why wouldn't I deserve it? Then that's when all the good stuff starts coming in.
I guess the bigger picture is you have to kind of consider is that high achiever or not repeat patterns because their subconscious has outpaced their programming. Right. And so it's going to appear in other categories. This is what I was trying to tell you. The accountant or the sales manager is not bad at accounting or sales managing. So they are actually quite good at what they do. Problem is, is their subconscious programming is still pushing them into sabotaging their whatever desire is in their heart. So your brain, think of it this way, is wired for familiarity, not growth. This is why we never feel at peace. And you were like, oh, we're here to experience joy. Yeah, if we can understand where we're stuck and where you have blocks. So even when you know— have you ever noticed this? Like, even when you know better, your system chooses what it, it wants to feel safe. It'll subconsciously sabotage a conversation or relationship. And most of the programming that we have in our systems and our nervous systems— we'll go into science, We were programmed from 7 to 9 years of age. So now you've got this highly capable adult, right? Being run by an outdated 9-year-old nervous system of programs and beliefs. And so that's why I bring in these 4 Bs, your, your BS, I call it. But where you're blocked is where you have, we'll call it your father wound in your chart. Where your baggage is, I call it the mother wound in your chart. Where your bruises are, I call it the the where we were you know bruised or wounded as a child from social acceptance, and where our breakthroughs are, where we actually have superpowers but we're avoiding that. And when you understand that, your system's going to go to anything to protect you from that. And that's the game changer, which is why I created those three steps. I I do these discussions in my live like Soul Masters. Private group, and we have this the three steps I told you. Have you have you determined where your BS is surfacing? Have you checked your authenticity in this system where we're looking at our chart? And can you step into today and decide I know what I want, and I've been choosing what I think I need instead? If we can check all three, we know we're standing confident to move forward. If we can't, we've got to go back to those bruises and those aspects of ourselves. And so. Everybody, like you said, I want it to be— I want a magic wand gone. That's what I go, I need the magic wand to make that go away. I'm like, you've got to walk into the fire. You've got to walk into that category of your life and go, this isn't going to hurt me. This is actually going to build me up to be more powerful. But we avoid it at all costs because of protection mechanisms within your nervous system, within your ego. Ego is really— so this is kind of— I like ego because ego kind of matches up to astrology. You can't see ego, but everybody believes in ego. And they go, but yeah, it's ego's fault. It's my ego. I got a bad ego. I'm like, but how do you know? You can't see your ego. Yeah, but they believe that. So we have to understand it's all energetic aspects of ourselves.
And, you know, the, the successful people that I know and work with and talk to a lot of times they say, well, you know, if, if I weren't this way or I weren't, you know, never satisfied, right? Like, so I reach for a goal, I hit it, and I'm on to the next one. That's the very thing that's allowing me to achieve this success, right? But then there's that hidden aspect of it where, yes, externally they are achieving success, but they still don't feel it. And, you know, their response is always like, well, that's because I'm always on to the next thing, right? So, and I'm sure you've seen this in your work with leaders, Talk about that a little bit because I would love, especially for young entrepreneurs that I work with who have anxiety, you know, more than we used to see. For me, like, what I would love for them is to realize that yes, they are worthy now. They don't have to do anything to be great. How do you address that?
So anxiety comes up a lot for me in my work, um, and I'm blessed to have had thousands of clients or groups or whatever to be able to kind of watch I'm a big pattern person, right? Like, if there's a pattern, I see it and like, there it is again. And anxiety is a big one because what happens with anxiety is very simple. When you break it down like this, it's a lot easier for people to grasp. Anxiety tells me when they show up is that they're either— when they tell me their story of why they can't, what's going wrong, whatever— they're either living in the past or the future. They're not present right now. And so when anxiety is showing up, I ask them like, what is the block? And it's either I'm afraid this is going to happen because it already happened pattern-wise, right? In their hot spots in their chart, I know where they're stuck. So most achievers lead from willpower. If I just override this, override this, and like you said, do the external, and I act like it's not there, and they're not living from authenticity, which is in the future. I gotta hurry up. Their brain is like, if I get this done, and I gotta do that, and I've gotta I have all these projects, and I got, and so now they're in the future. of not being here right now. So it's, it's a present moment that is very hard for people. And so most of them are pushing and proving and producing, and it works until it doesn't.
And it's, you know, it's this idea that, you know, I'll be happy when, right? I'll be happy when I start the company. I started the company, but no, now I'll be happy when I get that first customer. I got the first customer, but no, I'm not happy now. I'll be happy when I get the next customer, or, you know, when I hit my first million dollars, or no, you know what, really, I'll be happy when I exit the company. And actually, a lot of the exited founders I know and work with, they're some of the most miserable, right? Because now they don't know what they're doing. So yeah, I think this, this whole idea that, you know, they're chasing the happiness or whatever it is that's going to bring them that joy is external when really they can just decide right now that, no, I'm like, skip all that, skip the line and say, no, I'm good right now. Is it actually that easy or that simple?
Well, so I work with exactly people you're talking about that get a lot of burnout. Right? They're just burnt out, and burnout isn't about doing too much. Have you ever noticed that like when you go out and I don't know if you how much you work out, but like you'll work out hard, had a long day, long hike, whatever it is, and your body's sore, but you still feel fine. You're just having a hard time moving. But when you're emotionally and mentally exhausted, the exhaustion is heavy and weighted, and it's hard to get through. And so when I talk about clients who are struggling with this. Burnout isn't about doing too much. It's it's doing what's not true for you for too long, and so alignment feels different, right? There's still effort, but there's clarity of direction and growth, and which is why I'm saying we typically don't not know what to do. It's we have to remove the distortions in our map that are on the highway and get the boulder out of the way so we can keep moving with who we are. So like you said, they're like, I got it, I killed it, John, I did a great job. And then they're like, but now I'm not okay because there's still a distortion in that emotional piece aspect for themselves. So when you're not forcing everything, you're choosing what actually fits you. And then that's what creates sustainability because it's okay to pick a nap. I mean, gosh forbid we stop doing, right? It's okay to pick. A walk. It's okay to pick what, and I'm I'm I'm a big reader, right? So it's okay to stop for two hours and take a nap. I'm going to give you a good example. You'll laugh at this. So I I do the same work. I'm a big I'm a big proponent of you know practice what you preach. So I have this Soul Masters program where I have an AI chatbot that decodes your chart, so you don't have to do the work. It's just telling you on the prompts like I want to know this about myself. So I was like, okay, I'm gonna do this to myself. And I've been a bit of a workaholic most of my life. You know, my, my mother was an absolute workaholic. It's no surprise where I got this. And I just kept pushing and pushing and pushing in every aspect of myself. And so I can honestly admit, I probably have worked at least 15-hour days for most of my life. A lot, right? And, and nothing's wrong with that until your body says, I don't think so. And so I've been through the last couple years, I've rebranded my company, I've taken all this. I mean, I was working 18-hour days a lot, and it was a lot, but I was like, this is what I know. But my nervous system was shot. So I took a radical change when this program that I use said you need to slow down and do nothing without productivity tied with it, right? Like, so you have to learn how to just be without productivity. And I was like, okay. Challenge accepted. So I shut myself down to five-hour workdays. John is the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life. Now, how basic does that seem, right? But my nervous system is constantly looking for that dopamine drip kick, like something to get me to go. I I was productive. I got this. So I'm sharing this with you because it. It's, it's what most people don't even know subconsciously is happening within their life. And I'm like, and if you can't darn slow down enough, your nervous system will never get out of that 7, 9-year-old driving my car. And no one's gonna let a 9-year-old drive their car, but we're letting it drive ours every day. You know? So it was a, it was such a wake-up call for me to see how hard that has been.
Yeah, for sure. And, and I think that it's really hard to realize that, you know, taking the walk or taking the nap or, or whatever whatever the soft self-care things, that's actually part of the work, right? Because if you're not rested and recovered and you don't have any resilience, you're not going to be able to work hard on whatever it is you're doing. So, and then I got this from some of the professional athletes I work with is that, you know, the rest and recovery is actually part of the workout. Like, that's an important part of it. And I think that's one thing that entrepreneurs are missing, you know, sleep when you're dead, grind, grind, grind, hustle.
Yes.
All that stuff, right? But the, the rest and recovery is an important part of the work. So if we could just give ourselves the permission to realize that, yes, rest and recovery is an important part of the work— maybe it doesn't feel like it because we're bombarded with all these messages about that— I think that's a, that's a big change that people undergo once they realize that.
And if you don't know that about yourself, you think something's wrong with you because the world Society says the opposite. What you just said is grind, go do more, do this. And and honestly, I get so much more done in the less hours because I'm focused. I'm I'm rested. I I'm not exhausted. I'm and I'm not overthinking because I know that that I've separate. You know, I've learned how to separate them out. But I'm just sharing that because it seems too simple to shift something. And and again, I wouldn't have thought that about myself because that's just who I am. And then I realized. Huh, this is this is a tool that I'm gonna. And again, don't get me wrong, it still gets to me, but it's just something when we don't realize that these tiny little things—it could be in relationships for someone. It could be less about working. It could be about you know our belief system. About you know I get this with a lot of stay-at-home moms. Like I feel like I'm not worth it because I'm like oh my gosh, you're how like the most superhuman person on the planet that can pull. All that off, like, you know, so we get, we're, it doesn't matter who you are, it's going, and again, I can look at the chart and look for your 4 Bs and go, oh, and they're like, yes, it is, I'm like, okay, then let's just remove the block, remove the distortion in your energy field, that's making you not feel worthy of staying home and teaching and empowering and building these powerful kids, and, and when you're, when you have that removed and realized you are capable, and, and who you are and why you're doing it, it changes the game. And now you let your guard down, the anxiety goes away, and you're present.
Yeah, it's tragic to me to hear a lot of stay-at-home moms express that, oh, I'm just a stay-at-home mom, or they don't feel like that's worthy or as valuable as working to make a corporation money or something like that, right? It's extremely valuable, if not one of the most valuable things. So I want to, I want to switch our attention a little bit to the practical application of this stuff. So on your website, There is a part where you can get a free astro, a free chart, right? So, you know, before we signed on, I kind of went through and I did mine. I put all my information in. How— so if somebody were to do that, how do they apply all the stuff they get back? Because it's— I mean, it's not just a quick paragraph. Yeah, I mean, you give quite a bit of information. So how does one deal with this? How do you process all that information?
So I have these conversations quite a lot, whether I'm speaking on stage or here on a podcast. And my goal is always like, look, I'm everything I'm saying. You can go look at it right now. It kind of highlights those four, you know, we'll call them hotspots in there that are a little bit highlighted. And then people are like, but what do I do with it? So I created two just two of the hotspots in my reality check reset course. It's literally sixty minutes. It's two little, you know, containers that kind of help you go, oh. You're right. This is a block. This is about emotional baggage, and now I know how to apply it in my own life instead of again. I take the chart off once you know it, then and it helps you really kind of set up the the first building block of those four B's, which is now I have control of over what has been bothering me forever, and I thought it was something wrong with me, and everybody hears I I. doing my own mini podcast for years, and they hear me say, you're perfect, and they're like, Dawn, I don't feel perfect. I'm like, you don't feel perfect because you're not addressing this one thing that isn't wrong with you. There's a block there. Now they can see it on paper, and they realize, so I'm not crazy. This has been bothering me forever. And I want people to feel whole, like there's nothing wrong with you, you just have this one area of avoidance, and it's a blind spot. So I start them there at Reality Check Reset. It's just like I said, it's a very mini course, Then they can go either into my I Deserve It membership, which is they can take courses there. A lot of people don't want to do live with me, and that's fine. And they can take all my courses, and it's a membership, and it's monthly. Or they can go into Soul Masters, and that's where I am live. That's where people can get me live, and they do a deep dive on every category of their chart. The AI bot reads it for you instantaneously, and then you have to show up On my calls, and I put people in the hot seat and go, okay, we're not playing small anymore. We're not accepting excuses. We're not you know. We now know why you're blocked. Now I want to know what your power move is, and it's so it's a power move course. I should say container and community where we mastermind how to stay in that power move position. And so everybody knows once they're in that once they're in that container and then that mastermind, if you're called up as as a uh, in the hot seat that we're getting down and dirty. And I mean in a good way. Like, let's get this stuff out of your way, out of the dis— you know, feeling like you have something wrong with you, because there's nothing wrong with you. And, and I'm getting a— I get a lot of people like, wow, this is like my— I now have this user's manual. Like, I, I knew, like you said, this is a lot like me, but now I really know why I've been leaning there. And And, you know, we bring up lots of stuff in there, whether it's who you are from your chart and how to get into power moves, or whether it's addictions come up in there. And because pick your poison, everybody got something, right? Whether it's eating, shopping, whatever. And so I want people to understand how to get your power back and be an unmovable lighthouse. And then above that is I have an elite mastermind group that is kind of for elites who've done all this work, have done private coaching with me. I'm kind of hard to access privately, but You know, there are people who are like, I'm in no matter what. And we have discussions, but those are kind of on an invite basis. So, and then I have books. I mean, even people like, well, I can't do that or can't afford them. Like, I have a whole slew of books. Like, my last, my most recent book was Mastering Badassery with Truth.
Mastering Badassery with Truth. I love that title. Yes.
And because if you're going to be honest, so I have a little description in each chapter of like, this is a topic, and then at the end, you— I want people to write in their book, right? And they journal kind of with these prompting questions about each topic from that book. Um, it's on Amazon, and it's a book I wrote because people kept doing the same thing as asking me the same questions. I'm like, here, this is how I experience it, this is what I've done with clients, ask yourself these questions and then decide if you want to make some changes. I don't know how you feel, but don't you think that there's enough out there? I don't care if it's what I— if you're using my containers or my tools, my answer to everybody is do something. There's so many books and courses and information and live and do something.
Yeah. No, I agree with that, right? But then it kind of goes back to the, you've got to always be doing something, right? So I think if they could just get out of that, like, hey, because the— I guess the thing I worry about is it falls into the productivity trap, right? Where, okay, I'm broken, there's something wrong with me, I've got to do something in order to fix myself. But I think what we're both saying is that you're already fine, there's nothing wrong with you. Um, do something to help you realize that, maybe, right? But I think it's, it's dangerous to think somebody always has to do something. But we're saying the same thing for sure.
Well, I don't— and I guess I should take that back. Not some— not to do a thing. But my point is, is, so are you kind of hearing a lot of this like self-love kind of trend? Yeah.
You just gotta love yourself more.
And I kind of call BS on the self-love thing only because I can have a crappy day and go get a massage and feel good for 24 hours, and the next day, if I did not address that crappy whatever's going on inside of me, it's back. And so I can do things to feel good, Mm-hmm. But they're not, they're not solving the internal. And so self-understanding for me is the key. Like, I want people to go, if you understand yourself, where you're blocked, where you're stuck, where your superpowers are, why are you avoiding doing that? You're so good at it. And how perfect you are. It changes the game because we stop trying to do things and we start trying to just be at peace with being who we are. That's that authentic Yeah. So I'm tired of people, and I'm not a big fan of the whole therapy, 20 years of therapy. Therapy is absolutely vital in some cases, and I totally support it, but when you're in therapy for 20 years, all you're doing is looping the trauma emotional nervous system instead of saying— when they come to— so a lot of people come to me and they're like, I've been to the psych, I've been to psychologists, I've been the meds, I've done counseling, counseling and you're it. You're like— I'm like, oh great, like why put the pressure on me, right? And I'm like, okay, well then here's the brutal truth. I'm gonna call you out on the BS and I'm also going to show you these superpowers that no one has told you about because you've been so looped into what's wrong with you. I'm going to show you what's right. That's my goal for my entire mission and it always has been, is to raise the self-worth of the planet because I don't believe that there's something wrong with us. I believe we haven't been shown how Yeah.
And I think it even is worse than that. Like, it's not that we just haven't seen it, but it's, it's because we're constantly shown that we're not enough, right? Because somebody else has more of this or more of that, or they've got a better life. So it's not that we're consciously thinking, oh, I'm not enough, but we're just shown it all the time.
Right.
And unless you can discern those messages you're getting and kind of say, you know what, that, that's just noise. That's somebody else's life. I'm actually, I'm really good. And I do, I totally agree with you about 20 years of therapy and just looping back, because if you keep talking about the same thing or you keep talking about the trauma, guess what's going to show up in your life? Or guess, guess what you're feeling? And, you know, the fact that our nervous system and our neurons respond to our words and our thoughts.
Sure.
It's really important to, to put out the words and the thoughts that, that we want, you know, choose a better thought.
Yeah. And most of the work that people like you and I are talking about is go do a thing. It typically treats symptoms and not patterns. And my goal is for people to see their patterns and show them you don't have a lot of them, but here's a few. And if we can interrupt the pattern, you go back to just being okay to be you. And you cannot change what you cannot see. So I've just taken the subconscious Using astrology, using— if people are like, I don't want astrology done, I have a course called Elevate. You don't have to even talk about astrology. You just take my course. I help you pull out the subconscious, put it on paper, and go, oh, so epigenetics, lineage, ancestors— I have downloaded all this, and yep, I'm repeating that. So I try to help people go, look, you can take all my— I'm just telling you, my Lighthouse Mastery Astrology is Super fast. If you don't want to do it fast, take your time. So, I just have this big awakening for people to say, look, you cannot change what you cannot see.
Yeah. No, it's true. Yeah. If you don't have awareness of it, right? And even just breaking it down to basic business metrics, you can't change what you don't measure, right? You can't change something if you don't see it. So, yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Yeah. Yeah. So, One word of parting advice, or maybe just a little wisdom, especially because I think people who get astrology and they're into it, no problem. They're all— it's great, right? But for people who are listening or like astrology, this guy's a business school professor and an entrepreneur. What the hell are we doing talking about astrology here? Like, I guess your last parting thought on that.
I love how you're like pushed under the astrology. Most people do. I love you.
I It's awesome.
So my point is, is if you can just strip the word astrology off and call it my soul map, if you can understand that if you truly want to know, your astrology chart tells you what kind of marketing you should do, what kind of career you're going to excel at, where you stand power in public, and where you're drawn to. And so my point is, is you can either learn it fast or you can do it the hard way. and keep using strategies that might slightly work or not work. And so my point is, is if you can strip the label off, which is why I call it your soul's blueprint, because that's really all it is, is a map of how to get where you want to go and do it from soul. So if you're in business, like, like I said, I'm in that place of I have proof it works. If you want to do it, here it is, and I've made it easy.
Mm-hmm.
If you don't want to do it, that's okay. There are other ways to see what you can't see. But you've got to— I don't care in business, if you're an entrepreneur, if you're like, I want nothing to do with astrology. Maybe some people are kind of religious and that's like, it doesn't fit with my religion. I'm like, then cool, go do my Elevate course. Like one way or another, you've got to bring up the subconscious and it brings back your power because most people kind of don't have to try to figure out what they're good at.
Mm-hmm.
It's just what you're drawn to.
Right? Yeah.
It's the information overload scenario we're all in. There's so much information coming at you and you're like, maybe that's it. And it never allows you to focus on you because you're so— you're trying to do so many things out there instead of just going, wait a minute, here's a product that helps me focus on me and how to be more powerful being me. And that's the goal, whether you're in business or not. Business is just one of the funny parts where you're gonna— I'm gonna take you back to what you just said earlier. Millionaires don't use astrology, billionaires do. So if you can look at it from that perspective and say, wait a minute, I'm more powerful if I know who I am, and this is just a simple blueprint to show me who I am.
Well, Dawn, I really appreciate you sharing your wisdom, your experience with us. I think people are gonna benefit. from it. So thank you so much. I appreciate it.
You're welcome. Thank you.
About This Episode
What if the reason you're exhausted, unfulfilled, and quietly stuck has nothing to do with your strategy, your work ethic, or your circumstances, but with how deeply misaligned your outer life is with who your soul actually came here to be?
In this episode of Total Entrepreneur: Mind, Body, Spirit, John interviews Daune M. Thompson, Soul CEO Activator, founder of Lighthouse Mastery, and author of Mastering Badassery with Truth. With a background spanning physiology, kinesiology, corporate coaching, and spiritual psychology, Daune has spent decades helping high achievers, executives, and entrepreneurs close the gap between the success they've built on the outside and the peace they're still searching for on the inside.
Daune breaks down her Lighthouse Mastery framework, a soul blueprint system rooted in astrology that maps the 12 categories of your life and pinpoints the four hotspots you've been avoiding, the ones she calls your blocks, baggage, bruises, and breakthroughs. She unpacks why burnout has nothing to do with how much you're doing and everything to do with how long you've been doing what isn't true for you, why high achievers are trapped in a constant state of "I'll deserve it when," and why a nine-year-old nervous system is quietly running most adults' decisions.
Whether you've achieved everything society told you would make you happy and still don't feel it, or you're building something real while quietly wondering why the peace never comes, this conversation will open a door to the part of yourself you've been too busy to look at.
Key Points Discussed
The CEO of your soul: Why most high achievers lead from the outside in, building strategy around external goals, and what it looks like to flip that and lead from soul truth first, letting everything else align from there.
Burnout redefined: Why burnout isn't about doing too much, it's about doing what isn't true for you for too long, and why that distinction completely changes how you approach recovery, rest, and realignment.
The soul's blueprint as a user's manual: How Daune uses astrology not as prediction but as a map of your soul's contracts, superpowers, and karmic master classes, the things you came here to master but have been avoiding at all costs.
The four Bs: How your blocks, baggage, bruises, and breakthroughs map directly onto four rooms in your personal lighthouse that you've padlocked shut, and why walking into those rooms is the only way to become truly unshakeable.
You don't earn worthiness, you remember it: Why high achievers are trapped in a perpetual cycle of "I'll deserve it when", and how the goalpost keeps moving not because of ambition, but because receiving and holding success requires a kind of inner worthiness that no achievement can manufacture.
The nine-year-old running your business: Why most of the subconscious programming driving your decisions, relationships, and self-sabotage was installed between ages seven and nine, and why no amount of strategy will override a nervous system still operating on that outdated code.
Self-understanding over self-love: Why a massage, a retreat, or 20 years of therapy can treat symptoms without ever interrupting the pattern, and why the real game-changer is seeing yourself clearly enough to stop confusing what you think you need with what is actually true for you.
